Our process is designed to be supportive and uncomplicated—from referral through to ongoing care. We work closely with GPs and other health professionals to ensure each step is informed and personalised to your needs. With a considered and compassionate approach, we aim to offer a thoughtful experience for patients.

Step 1

Referral

To see a psychiatrist at Sage Clinic, you will need a referral. You can either:

Arrange for a referral from your usual GP, or

Meet with our in-house GP.

Step 2

Pre-appointment forms

Before your appointment, we’ll ask you to complete some online forms to help us prepare. These forms help us:

Build an understanding of your current circumstances; and

Guide the assessment accordingly.

Our psychiatrists spend 45- to 60-minutes preparing for your assessment by reviewing your referral and documentation.

Step 3

Assessment

You’ll meet with one of our specialist psychiatrists for a comprehensive assessment. This 45- to 60-minute appointment involves:

A detailed review of your medical and mental health history.

Review of psychometric results that help clarify diagnosis.

Discussion of any current medications and relevant life circumstances.

If a diagnosis is made, your psychiatrist will develop a treatment plan to meet to your needs.

Step 4

Treatment plan and ongoing care

Your treatment plan may include:

Prescription medication (if appropriate).

Psychological skills, strategies, or lifestyle recommendations.

Suggestions for therapy or further supports.

A comprehensive summary of the assessment and treatment plan will be sent to you and your referring doctor within four to seven business days.

Your GP may assist in a shared care model, which can reduce costs and make it easier to access medication over time.

We are a specialist psychiatry clinic based across Perth and Melbourne. We offer telehealth consultations to child, adolescent, and adult patients seeking assessments for ADHD, ASD, and general mental health difficulties.

We work across Wurundjeri and Whadjuk Noongar Country. We pay our respects to Elders past and present.
